Cara Akselrad
Former Theatre Intern Cara Akselrad is a freshman at the University of Michigan, where she’s majoring in theatre and English. This summer, she worked as an intern for the League of American Theatres and Producers. (updated Oct. 2003)
Olivia Allin
Fashion and Design Intern Olivia Allin attends Sarah Lawrence College. Future plans include studying abroad in Japan for a year and perhaps writing for a fashion magazine. She’s proud to report that she’s had some of her poetry published in various compilations. This summer, she worked as a waitress in her parents' restaurant, Jinja. (updated Oct. 2003)
Melinda Becker
Duke University student Melinda Becker writes, “My Photography Internship helped prepare me for more advanced photography classes in high school and helped me become a photojournalist for my school's yearbook.” This summer she traveled and earned a bartending license. Sara Burack

Alex Chingas
Alex Chingas attends Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, where he is a Spanish major. While attending college full-time, he has also been working full-time as a Realtor at Coldwell Banker Riverside-Shavell in Westport, CT. He is the recipient of the "International President's Sterling Society" and "Multi-Million Dollar Top Producer" awards. The former Journalism Intern writes, “Meeting amazing people who I have forged long-time friendships with and having the opportunity to experience living abroad were highlights of my IEI experience.” He’s in contact with Orly Friedman, Jordan Johnson, Lindsey Deitsch, Jacki Garfinkle and Ashley Kaye. Matthew Collier
Matthew Collier is a business major at George Washington University. “My Finance Internship made me realize I don’t want to be a banker; instead I want to be a student and a billionaire.” That goal got off to a slow start this summer, when he was a counselor at his former camp.

Jil Dubin

Lea Esquenazi
When she returned home, Lea Esquenazi used her IEI experience in web site design to create many web sites for family and friends. “At first I thought I would want to pursue a career in web design, but now at Syracuse University I’ve decided to go into special education.” (updated Oct. 2003)
Jessica Fisch
Now at Tufts University in Massachusetts, majoring in theatre and English, Jessica Fisch will always cherish the roles she played as an IEI Theatre Intern. “Playing Crumpacker and Ms. Fisch and the theater cast party were highlights of my summer, but I always say that any theater training is time well spent!” This summer she directed a children’s production and starred in “Mad Dog Blues.” She maintains contact with Cara Akselrad, Melissa Fellman and RA Tom Mason. Eliza Gager
At Fordham University at Lincoln Center, Eliza Gager is majoring in photography with a minor in graphic design. This summer, when she worked as a photographer for a local newspaper, she used the skills she learned during her IEI Photography Internship. “IEI showed me what was possible in the world of photography. Jaclyn Garfinkel
Jaclyn Garfinkel is excited to be starting at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications, where she’ll major in broadcast journalism. “I stayed home this past summer for the first time in 10 years and worked at a local store, Consider the Cook.” She keeps in touch with lots of IEI friends including Rachel Bender, Erika Hamberg, Jeff Coren, Elliott Schwartz, Erica Ehrlich, Orly Friedman, Alex Chingas, Scott Richardson, Dan Kessler, Rogan Motter and Kadi Picinich. Sarah Miller Glickman
After a summer spent babysitting and volunteering at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, Sarah Miller Glickman is at George Washington University. Perry Greenspan
Perry Greenspan has spent three summers working in the record industry. During IEI, she was at RCA Records, where she sat in Simon Cowell’s office (the now-famous judge on American Idol) and listened to the soon-to-be-released 5ive CD. Then, she spent two summers as a paid intern for Warner Bros. Records in Los Angeles. The rest of the year, she’s at Boston University, where she’ll be transferring into the school of management as a marketing major. “My IEI internship helped me become more independent and branch out and for the first time my skills were actually used and appreciated by people that only knew me as their American intern.” (updated Oct. 2003)
Joanna Humphrey
Now at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, Joanna Humphrey reminisces about seeing Shakespeare and Mamma Mia on the London stage. “I had so much fun with IEI. Jennie Jackson
Jennie Jackson lives in London and is attending the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts. She expects to complete her master’s degree in the history and culture of fashion by December. Jennie graduated from UMass-Amherst in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. The former IEI Fashion & Design Intern is currently interning with Jimmy Choo Ltd. (updated Oct. 2006)

Former Public Relations intern Rachel Jacoby is majoring in psychology and sociology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Ashley Kaye attends the University of California at Santa Barbara. Adam Kravitz
Adam Kravitz reports that he’s having a wonderful time at George Washington University, where he’s pledging a fraternity Sigma Alpha Mu/SAMMY -- with former IEI Intern Adam Barsky. “The World Bank/IMF protests happened right in front of our dorm, which is across the street from IMF and three blocks from the White House.” He’s in touch with Jason Meltsner and Jared Kahn, who also attend GW. Margaret Lewis

Michaelann Millrood
Celebrating her 18th birthday in London was a highlight of her IEI experience, according to Michaelann Millrood, who is now at Tufts University. The California native and former Theatre Intern is majoring in English; this summer she worked and traveled around the West Coast. (updated Oct. 2003)

Brett Pacis
Brett Pacis is enjoying Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where he’s pledging the "New Yorker" fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) and is involved in a couple of student organizations. He has a major in cognitive studies and a minor in financial economics and investment analysis, with hopes to “ascend into the business world.” (updated Oct. 2003)

A former Fashion & Design Intern, Blair Parsont attends Brooklyn Law School. She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. She’s interested in criminal and real estate law. (updated Oct. 2007)
Kadi Picinich
Kadi Picinich reports three recent accomplishments: early acceptance to Colgate University, having her poetry published in an anthology, and being awarded the Athletic Association of Independent Schools’ All-Star Award in swimming. This past summer, she was a paid intern on the set of the television program Entertainment Tonight. She maintains ties with Sam Janvey, Meghan O’Gorman, Greta Haugland, and Jackie Garfinkel. Bridget Pollock
Bridget Pollock is completing her master’s degree studies at Wheelock College in Boston. She’s chosen a career as a Child Life Specialist: “I help meet children’s psychosocial needs while they are hospitalized.” She spent the summer interning in Child Life at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Bridget, who earned a B.A. in human development from Boston College, keeps in touch with Amy Bellman. “We just went to our five-year high school reunion.” (updated Oct. 2007)

Delivering flowers to Madonna’s room at the Four Seasons Hotel was one of the summer’s highlights for Caitlin Ross. Her hotel experience convinced her that it was the right choice to apply early decision to Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, where she is now enrolled. Shari Rotto
Shari Rotto is majoring in public relations at the University of Maryland, which she’s happy to say was her first choice for college. Leah Sellers
Florida native Leah Sellers is a senior at Northwestern University, where she is majoring in economics and art theory and practice. A former Fashion & Design Intern, Leah writes, “I just completed a three-month internship at Betsey Johnson in NYC. I was also an RA during my junior year of college.” She says that her IEI experience has guided her but she hasn’t yet decided on a specific career. (updated Oct. 2003)
Stacey Spielman
Former Fashion & Design Intern Stacey Spielman is a senior at the University of Michigan, where she is majoring in communications. She writes, “I currently live with Krystle Etri, and we still see many other IEI alumni socially, including Jared Cooper, Jeremy Scher, Rony Kravel and David Resnick.” This summer she interned in the public relations department at Avon. She says her most memorable times with IEI were taking the tube to explore the city after her Internship day was over. “I loved going to Covent Gardens and Piccadilly Circus with my friends just to wander around.” (updated Nov. 2005)

Cara Strom
Cara Strom is majoring in biology at Northwestern University; she traveled to Italy this summer on a school trip. “My Social Services Internship made me consider working with the disabled in the future.” She keeps in touch with a crew of IEI friends including Hilary Geller, Lauren Skiba, Jenna Kandel, Lauren Giovanniello, Liz Beigel, Brooke Kotick and Sam Lefkowitz. Alexandra Sweet
Video Editing Intern Alexandra Sweet is a sociology major at Hamilton College. She’s currently participating in Hamilton’s Semester in NYC program in Globalization and Cinema. “They only accept 15 applicants and send them and a professor to NYC to stay in amazing apartments, do an internship, and have biweekly class with the professor. I have an internship four days a week at POV, which is the division of PBS that broadcasts documentaries,” she writes. This summer she took a course called “Aesthetics of Cinema,” and did an internship with an independent documentary filmmaker in Chicago. (updated Oct. 2003)
Jenna Todd
Jenna Todd is a freshman at Syracuse University. “My TA, Tom Mason, was a graduate of Syracuse and he introduced the college to me. The photography portfolio I created in London was a huge help in the whole process.” This summer, she traveled to Italy’s Amalfi coast and visited family in England. She also attended Wimbledon, quite a treat for Jenna, who was captain of her high school varsity tennis team. (updated Oct. 2003)
