Meredith Becker
Floridian Meredith Becker has gone north to attend the School of Communications at Boston University, where she’s majoring in public relations. This summer, she worked in an advertising agency. During her month with IEI, she did an Auction House internship at Sotheby’s. (updated Oct. 2003)
Michelle Bernstein
This summer, Michelle Bernstein worked at CBS News Production on a documentary about 9/11. The former Hotel Management Intern says, “Working at the Lanesborough Hotel was great. I met so many amazing people and learned a lot about the behind-the-scenes workings of the industry.” Michelle is a senior at Cornell, where she’s majoring in economics. (updated Oct. 2006)

Taylor Brandt
| Taylor Brandt is a student at NYU. She also works as a freelance photographer. “I have created a little business for myself shooting family portraits,” she writes. “I have continued to follow my passion for photography since my IEI Internship and have made many accomplishments that I am proud of.” These include recently winning the color division of a photo contest at school and having another photo labeled “honorable mention.” This summer Taylor interned with photographer Eduardo Patino, who photographs dance companies for dance magazines and clothing catalogs. Zachary Briton
Interviewing clients in jail was the most memorable part of Zachary Briton’s Law Internship. Now at student at American University, he says his IEI experience helped him land an internship in Washington, D.C. This summer he worked at a sleep away camp. Jessica Coughlin
Jessica Coughlin attends George Washington University, where she’s considering majoring in media and Spanish. A former Advertising Intern, who says she’s proud of the contributions she made at Ogilvy Mather, Jessica is still considering a career in advertising. This past summer, she worked in a restaurant and went to Spain. She’s in touch with Sarah Crowe, Zach Mack, Nina Shield and Jeremy Gaspar. (updated Oct. 2003)
Karleen Engel
Texan Karleen Engel is thrilled to report that she was accepted into the public relations department of the Annenberg School of Communications at University of Southern California. Michael Friedman
His Finance Internship provided great material for his college essay, says Michael Friedman. It must have been good; he got into Cornell, where he’s majoring in applied economics and management. This summer, he staffed a day camp. Michael reports, “Liza Chrust and I are still together.” He’s also in touch with Zach Mack and Sarah Crow. (updated Oct. 2003)
Russell Graney
After graduating from Harvard in June with a B.A. in social studies, Russell Graney returned to London this past summer for travel and fun. “It was wonderful to be back in a city that held so many fond memories,” he says. He’s now working as an associate consultant at Bain & Company in New York. He writes, my Marketing Internship at Mulberry helped me see that business work can be exciting and can demand creativity.’ He’s “still very close with Betsy Kagen and Melissa Mariaschin, my current roommate in NYC.” (updated Oct. 2007)
Neala Gollomp
Now a student at Cornell, Neala Gollomp writes that she is really happy. Though she enjoyed her Law Internship, particularly “going to court and sitting there as if I was a significant part of the trial,” she’s thinking about majoring in government instead of law. She worked as a waitress this past summer; she says she’s in touch with too many IEI alum to list. (updated Oct. 2003)
Russ Graney
Russ Graney, a senior at Harvard College, will graduate in early June. In the fall, he’ll begin work as a consultant in Bain and Company’s New York office. The former Marketing Intern (Russ worked at Mulberry), hopes to return to the United Kingdom this summer to enjoy the final months of “summer freedom and to reconnect with my old home, where I lived for three years when I was a child.” (updated Feb. 2007)
Jaclyn Greenberg
Former Fashion and Design Intern Jaclyn Greenberg attends Emory University, where she’s a pre-business major. She’s interested in a career that involves marketing or advertising in the fashion industry. This summer, she worked in a children’s shoe store. “At IEI, I have made many lifelong friends that I will never forget,” she says. Among those are Jenna Blatstein, Niki Pines, Lesley Seliger,and Carly Lackow, with whom she keeps in touch. (updated Oct. 2003)
Margaux Jackson
Margaux Jackson attends Colgate University. “The highlight of my Public Relations Internship was making the final presentation to our bosses and seeing how impressed everyone was with our work. We knew that all the time and energy put into the project was worth it, and that the staff would actually be able to use the database we created.” This past summer was low-key; she worked in a bead store making jewelry. Lauren Jijina
After her Business/Finance Internship at Jefferies, New York native Lauren Jijina decided to apply to business schools. Now, she’s a business major at Washington University in St. Louis. She’s proud to report that since IEI, she has made the All-State Band and the All-Eastern Orchestra. (updated Oct. 2003)
Dana Kvalheim
| is a junior at Mount Holyoke College, where she is majoring in studio art and early childhood education. She writes, “My Social Services Internship at a school for autistic children gave me experience working in a field that interested me and helped me narrow down what I wanted to study later in life. This summer, for the second year in a row, Dana hosted and planned "Around the World," a one-week summer camp for kids 7 to 12; the program stressed the importance of learning about the world we live in through art-based activities and games. Nora Kirkpatrick
Nora Kirkpatrick is a theatre major at UCLA. She writes, “Since returning from the theatre program at IEI, I've gone on to make several films, one of which has won over 10 film festivals worldwide and was just signed for worldwide distribution. I am also a founding member of a theater company at UCLA called Interstate Five, which puts on around 10 performances a year, solely done by students.” (updated Nov. 2005)
Cat Lukaszewski
New York University student Cat Lukaszewski chose a college close to home. Though she isn’t sure if she’ll continue with Public Relations, she says colleges were impressed by her internship at Brower Lewis. “Walking to work during the transit strike, making some really great friends and having a wonderful job contributed to making the summer of 2002 the best summer of my life.” She keeps in touch with Daniel Kimerling and Rose Feuer, among others. Melissa Mariaschin
Melissa Mariaschin is a freshman at Georgetown University, where she’s majoring in finance. “My IEI Internship helped me decide that business school was the right undergraduate option for me,” she writes. Elisabeth Martin
Elisabeth Martin is a fashion merchandising major at Johnson and Wales University. “After my Fashion and Design Internship, I realized that I wanted to do the business part of fashion instead of the design part of it,” she says. Andrea Parton
Massachusetts native Andrea Parton has headed south to Emory University in Atlanta. “IEI was my first experience living in college dorms and being on my own, and I feel more confident here at Emory from the summer I spent in London,” she writes. Nicole Pines is a student at New York University, where she’s majoring in hotel and tourism management. Aldyn Richmond
When she’s finished her education at University of California at Berkeley, Aldyn Richmond hopes to be an art teacher. She says her Fine Arts Internship was memorable from start to finish: “Seeing the museums and art galleries, being on my own, making a one-minute video clip that took hours to complete, painting, the nightlife -- all of it.” This past summer, she took a class, went back East to Maine and Boston, and relaxed. Elise Shanbacker
Former Archaeology Intern Elise Shanbacker is senior at Middlebury College in Vermont; she’s majoring in sociology. She worked at school this summer -- part time in the admission office and part time as a research assistant in the sociology department. She spent a semester abroad at the Universidad de la Rioja in Spain. She writes, “My most memorable IEI experience was finally climbing Primrose Hill (something I'd wanted to do since reading 101 Dalmatians as a kid) and getting caught in the rain right at the top.” (updated Oct. 2006)
Nina Shield
Last May, Nina Shield graduated from Barnard College with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing. She works in Manhattan as the personal/editorial assistant to a contributing editor at Vanity Fair. A former Photography Intern, Nina has continued her experiments in photography and alternative processes. (updated Feb. 2008)
Freddy Wexler
Freddy Wexler, an English major at the University of Pennsylvania, is pursuing a career in music. Last year, he signed a major recording deal with Virgin Records and a songwriting publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing. Freddy is currently writing for Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Natalie Imbruglia, Blake Lewis, The Veronicas, Tina Turner, and Celine Dion. He has an album coming out this year.
