David Bazner
David Bazner is a freshman at George Washington University. He had two internships this summer: one at a law firm in his hometown of Lexington, KY and another at the University of Kentucky Art Museum: “I was asked to present their summer exhibit to their docent program and members of the board, which was an exciting opportunity, to say the least.” About his Journalism Internship he says, “My writing skills became more concise as a result, and my analytical skills were also heightened. Cambridge made its impression on me, so much so that I am pursuing study abroad opportunities there.” He recently visited Liana Berkowitz and Shayna Monahemi in New York this summer, and he keeps in touch with Zoe Zetlin, Courtney Rae Riles and Jaclyn St. Clair. Adam Fernandez
After working this summer at Commerce Bank, Adam Fernandez began his freshman year at Georgetown University, where he’s studying International Business. What was memorable about IEI and his internship at Arbuthnot? “Working on my own away from home for the first time in a business setting, and meeting all the people that I'm still friends with.” He’s in contact with Amanda, Max, AJ, Phoebe and Dana. (updated Sept. 2008)

Adam Giansiracusa
Adam Giansiracus has traveled a long way from his home in Saudi Arabia to attend Georgetown University, where he is a freshman majoring in International Politics. This summer, he interned in Washington, DC. He says his internship at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) “helped me get into Georgetown and taught me a bit more about a working environment.” His most memorable moment was attending a speech by former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Adam keeps in touch with Lauren Feldman and Mark Nakahara. (updated Sept. 2008)

Jordan Isicoff
Jordan Isicoff is a sophomore at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, where he’s majoring in economics and Spanish. This summer, he interned at Zimmerman Advertising, an Omnicom company, and then traveled around Europe. Jordan writes, “During my IEI Internship at MF-Global, I learned futures trading, which gave me a better understanding of statistics and probability. I am currently taking a course on Statistical Methods in the Economy, and I can apply a lot of what I learned in London to the theories I am now learning.” He keeps in touch with Magda Antonik and Melissa Tannenbaum. (updated Oct. 2009)

Alexandra Luterek
Former Social Services Intern Alexandra Luterek spent part of the summer in Europe, visiting the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Spain. She attends the University of Colorado at Boulder and is majoring in Psychology and Spanish. She remembers her IEI internship fondly. “The Internship was a huge opportunity. I not only learned about autism and working with autistic children, but I also learned a lot about myself as a teacher, worker and individual.” She’s in contact with Elana Haron, Molly Codner, Liza Patinkin, Courtney Kirsch, Alex Walgreen, Matt Messer and Magda Antonik. (updated Sept. 2008)

Mark Nakahara
Mark Nakahara is a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania, where he’s majoring in Classics. His summer family vacation to the United Kingdom included playing golf in Scotland. He also did an internship with the Philadelphia Major League Soccer expansion team. He writes, “My Strategic Studies Internship made me more aware of current events, and this has had an effect on the college courses I’ve chosen.” He’s kept in touch with Daniela Reichelstein, Lauren Feldman, Adam Giansiracusa and Cory Meza. (updated Sept. 2008)

Colleen O'Bannon
Texas native Colleen O’Bannon has headed west to Walla Walla, Washington, where she’s attending Whitman College. “This summer, I stayed home and enjoyed my last summer of freedom -- aka I couldn't find a job.” The former Photography Intern adds, “At IEI, I met some really great friends that I still keep in touch with, including Chloe Berger, Jessica Siegal and Jordan Isicoff.” (updated Sept. 2008)
