Delve into the world of not-for-profit organizations by spending a month at a British charity. You’ll learn how not-for-profit organizations fundraise, advocate, communicate, plan events and carry out their mission. Among our placements are Tender, an organization that works to stop domestic abuse and sexual violence through programs in schools, youth centers and refuges; Envision, which helps 16- to 19-year-olds develop their own social and environmental projects; and The Rainforest Foundation, which assists indigenous communities in securing rights to the land and their livelihoods in order to protect the world’s rainforests. You may be able to use this program to fulfill your high school’s community service requirement.
"At Tender, I learning a lot about fund-raising, met really interesting and committed people, and helped them get out the word about domestic violence by helping with programs and event planning. It was so exciting when the charity’s Trust Project (for students under 18) was voted a semifinalist in the Big Lotteries Award. It was incredible to be working in such a cool place and learning so much about an area I’ve always been interested in."J. Eisenberg, Merion, PA; Not-For-Profit Intern |
