A Growing Independence Gabrielle Cohen, Journalism
This first week of Intern Exchange International has truly been a life-changing one. Aside from meeting numerous new and exciting people, I was able to live a life of full independence. I know that I can now stand up on my own two feet. From doing my own laundry to making my bed each morning and making sure I am on the time for curfew each night (as well as abiding by the rules), I cannot begin to explain this week’s epiphany for me.
The people I’ve met have been just as important. My RA attended Vanderbilt University, my No. 1 college choice. He’s been more than just an authority figure, but also someone to talk to and seek advice from. My friends and peers are so different from those at home and are an amazing bunch of people. After only one week, I am positive that the IEI program will offer more epiphanies and life-altering instances… and possibly even one of the best experiences of my life so far.
