Diving Into the Culture Lauren Feldman, Law
The night before my internship, I was both excited and anxious about the prospect of spending a month in London. I was most intrigued by the chance to get first-hand job training in law, which will probably be my future career, but for me the trip meant something a little more personal as well. Going to London was much more than living in a foreign city. It was also the opportunity to experience and appreciate firsthand the country and culture that I have grown to love in books and in my mind since I was 11 years old.
My other thoughts the night before I left were focused on whether or not I would make many friends. At home, I have a great group of friends who I have fun with and who I also trust greatly. However, befriending new people has always been troublesome for me because I choose not to hide my eccentricities, which makes it hard to make companions in a world where shallow conversations and relationships form the majority of human interaction. I’m happy to report that it worked out: I’ve made great new friends as I’ve explored the culture that has always appealed to me.
