Making an Impact Alyssa Potolsky, Community Services/Social Services In the beginning of the summer I was so scared. I had no idea what to expect from my students. I have previously worked with autistic children but not for such a long time. The classroom proved to be a very comfortable environment. The teachers are very nice and go out of their way to make me feel like a valuable Intern. The kids, on the other hand, were very hard to get used to at first. I love working with children, but these children are young and are still at the age where they cannot always respond to me. It took me time to adjust to communicating with them. Over these weeks I have adjusted. Now I really feel as if I am making an impact on these children. It is an incredible opportunity. |
