In the Darkroom – and Out
Kelly Riffer, Photography

I came to London signed up for a summer of photography, ready and willing to experience new things. The Special Processes Photography programme was practically perfect. I’ve been doing photography for approximately four years (give or take), and this was surprisingly new and different. I learned about various printing techniques, like cyanotype and lith printing; we were even able to print on wood and glass. To top it off, the Thai lady provided the most delicious lunch breaks!

The class itself was a treat; we got to go out into diverse sections of London to take pictures and we spent hot days in a cool darkroom. Although I was hesitant in the beginning, I was soon off having a great time. Of course, having fantastic TAs and Tutors helped. One of the main reasons I got so into it was the excitement from my TA. All in all, my time spent in the darkroom was the highlight of my trip.
