Explore fashion and design in London, one of the world’s most exciting young fashion capitals. You’ll learn about the industry through hands-on workshops on fabrics, silhouettes, pattern cutting, trend forecasting, fashion illustration, the role of the designer, and the business of fashion. Interns take field trips to the contemporary Fashion and Textile Museum, founded by Zhandra Rhodes, and to the Victoria & Albert Museum, whose collection illustrates the history of fashion and design. Along with developing your aesthetic judgment and drawing skills, you’ll learn to express your fashion ideas through pattern and texture. By summer’s end, you’ll have a professional portfolio of your work and an item of clothing and an accessory to take home. (Note: The supply list will be provided in a future mailing.)"Every day at Cavendish College we worked on an ongoing project, which was designing a shirt and making a bag. Besides this, we had different teachers who taught different subjects. We learned to sketch and sew; we drew and portrayed different materials on paper using various coloring tools and techniques. This workshop helped me appreciate how much work is required to be in this industry."N. Parikh, Los Altos Hills, CA; Fashion & Design Intern |
