Sharpen your journalism skills in this Workshop that explores the rapidly growing field of print and broadcast media. Delve into the role of reporter, feature writer, copy editor and columnist; explore the craft of writing for newspapers and radio. Through hands-on experience and workshop instruction, you'll learn the basics (clarity, punch, good interviewing techniques) and the ethics (accuracy, honesty and fairness) of writing for the media. Interns will use their new researching, interviewing and writing skills to produce professional quality articles that will be published in their own Intern-produced paper. You’ll learn how to achieve the skills necessary for layout and design with the desk-top publishing program InDesign. By program's end, you'll be uniquely prepared with the skills and understanding you need to have a successful career in journalism. “Journalism is going great; our Intern newspaper is almost ready, and I feel a great sense of achievement. All of the hard work from the past few weeks has definitely paid off. I’m going to miss my Internship after this, but I feel that I have acquired most of the necessary tools to begin a career in journalism. I have IEI to thank for that.”M. Oliver, San Juan, PR; Print & Broadcast Journalism Intern
